It’s November, you guys. November. That means a few things:
1. The Nordstrom half yearly just started.
2. It’s almost Christmas (yes, I’m THAT girl).
3. Thanksgiving is around the corner so BLACK FRIDAY is around the corner (that girl, too).
4. Red cup season at Starbucks.
5. It’s the perfect month to reflect on what you’re most thankful for.
Every Thursday in the month of November I’ll be sharing one thing that I am deeply grateful for. I’m incredibly blessed with a wonderful family, amazing friends, a great job, a home that we’re proud of and a budget for shopping (ha ha).
But today, I’m thankful for her:
For the past eight years this little girl has held the key to our hearts. She provides joy and love in our home every day. Last month when she had knee surgery was the first time in the eight years she’s been with us that it occurred to me that she might not always be there – something I can’t bear to think about. I was a wreck during the procedure. I wept at work while she was on the operating table, I cringed when she would yelp in pain while trying to learn to walk again – it’s definitely an experience I do not want to go through again. So right now, as Lani sits at my feet as I write this, flipping onto her back so I’ll rub her belly with my toes, I am thankful for her health. I’m thankful for her recovery and for the wonderful vet that gave us many more years of happiness with her. I’m thankful for every tail wag, wet kiss, playful growl and evening cuddle. I’m thankful for this (little) big piece of my heart.
