Sometimes the simplest snacks are the best ones. Fruit and yogurt, apples and peanut butter, cheese and crackers – most of the perfect pairings are so easy! But with the holiday season upon us and temptations around every corner, it can be hard to maintain healthy eating habits, especially when it comes to snacking. One of my favorite tricks to stay on track is keeping healthy snacks around the house (and at work!) that I know are fulfilling AND yummy. This homemade trail mix of sorts is definitely one way to accomplish both feats.
Here’s what you’ll need:
Take a package of raw almonds and season them with a little olive oil (just enough to coat) and coarse sea salt to taste. We usually use a large ziplock bag, mix and shake!
Put them on a cookie sheet and bake at 375 degrees for about 20-23 minutes (depending on your oven) – I like to leave them in a little on the long side so they get nice and toasty.
Let them cool on the cookie sheet and (if needed) sprinkle some additional sea salt. Once cool, add in some dried cranberries – or whatever type of dried fruit you prefer – and voila! A delicious and healthy snack to curb your sweet and salty cravings.*
An added bonus is the amazing aroma it leaves in your house after baking. Enjoy!
