I just LOVE the way our home looks when it’s decked out for the holidays. There’s just something about Christmastime that makes a home feel even more “homey.” Since it’s been such a source of joy for me over the past few weeks (we decorate the day after Thanksgiving!), I thought I would share some of my favorite pieces with you.
My sister and I made these adorable (Anthro-inspired) snow globes last year with her mother-in-law. They are both totally crafty – I, on the other hand, am not. But I still think these turned out pretty darn cute for a non-DIY blogger. 🙂
Another one of my favorite projects we created was the vintage jewel tree on our mantle below. It’s made of jewelry, buttons and pieces of mirror on a velvet backing – it also has mini LED lights that we drilled through the back so it can be lit at night.
I’m also kind of obsessed with our tree. It’s all red and green and full of ornaments we adore. We’ve made a tradition of heading to Crate & Barrel every year during their ornament sale to pick out a few newbies, but the most special ornaments to me are the ones passed down by my grandmothers. The Santa on the left is a vintage ornament from my maternal Grandma, and the British crown ornament on the right is one (of many!) that was passed on to me by my paternal Grandma. She was English and had the most exquisite taste in ornaments – and I was very blessed to get a few to adorn our tree each year.
The felt garland is our latest edition (another Crate & Barrel find!) and we couldn’t wait to go home and put it on the tree as soon as we found it. Isn’t she pretty?
I get a little sad each year when we take all the decorations down, so I’m savoring each night in front of our lit tree – wrapping presents, cuddling on the couch and sneaking Sees Candy (shh!). Hope you’re enjoying some quality tree time, too!
