Last week I needed an Ulta trip for shampoostyling gel pink lipstick and concealer. I mean I was supposed to be buying hair products, but with my 20% off entire purchase coupon in hand, these two new beauty buys magically made it into my cart. I swear I don’t know how they got there. Do sales associates just throw fabulous cosmetics in your bag now? Is that a thing?
I’ve been wanting to try benefit’s “fake up” since I saw it in a magazine a couple months ago (because as soon as I see something in a magazine that’s under any sort of “must buy” list put together by an editor, staffer, reader, third grader, etc. – I must have it). As you can (kind of) see from the picture above, there is a hydrating layer surrounding the makeup itself, which is supposed to help in crease-control. I agree, for the most part. I bought the “light” shade – my usual color – and I do love how smooth the application is. It lasts relatively well throughout the day, but more so when I have powder on over it. The color is nice for my skin tone and I’m pretty happy with the coverage for dark circles. Although it’s definitely more opaque when layered.
I’ve also been aching for a pretty pink lip color for spring and have been on the lookout for the perfect shade. This is my first smashbox product (gasp!) and I was so pleasantly surprised. I’ve worn it almost every day since I got it. On the downside, it’s pretty dry, but on the upside – it seriously lasts all. day. and I adore the color. I put it on Saturday afternoon, went out, had dinner, ate a cupcake, went in the jacuzzi, and it was still on when I went to wash my face that night. Now that’s good coverage.
Here they are in action. Yes, that’s me with no makeup on the left (ok, mascara), so no judging. Just wanted you to see the AMAZING TRANSFORMATION. Or the little one. Either way.
Have you tried either of these products? I’d love to hear your thoughts on them!
