This weekend we celebrated my sweet nephew Finn’s second birthday. And just last week – he started calling me (and my car) “Momo.” It makes me melt every. time. I can’t believe he’s already 2.
Anyway, my sister threw an adorable party for him with a nautical theme (yes, that runs in the family, also). I, of course, showed up at noon with three dozen Krispy Kreme doughnuts, a smile and my trusty anchor shirt. We spent hours setting up outside to make sure everything was just right (and it was) until a (very uncharacteristic) summer storm hit, drenching our gorgeous work. Thirty minutes later, with lots of sweat, a little blood (mainly from my foot after a run in with a very large chalkboard) and lots of careful redesign, we managed to take the party indoors.
Of course, as soon as everyone arrived, the sun decided to make a glorious appearance – with just enough time for us to scramble and put a few key items back outside. Here are some of the highlights (including floating toy boats, a handmade sailboat fit for two, and table cloths made for doodling, too).
It turned out to be a great afternoon. And, as always, I was amazed at how thoughtfully put together the entire day was. By the way, in case you were questioning my borderline obsession of all things nautical, take another look at that last photo of me with my mom and sisters – ya think we’re related?
