Freebies are always a good excuse to go to the mall (as if I needed an excuse to go to the mall), so as soon as I got the coupon for my Sephora Beauty Insider birthday gift, I rushed to South Coast Plaza so I could pick it up. Here’s what I went home with (you didn’t think I’d leave with just one thing, did you?):
I’ve been wanting a new berry lip color for fall and after lots of mindless wandering and a very stained tester hand, I came across this cashmere lip cream from BITE Beauty. It’s called Sancere and it’s kinda gorg. I love the pigment – my only qualm is the application. It has a strange ergonomic-like wand that seriously confuses me – do I use the tip? The side? Do I use strokes? Or use it as a liner? Perplexing. But it does turn into a very pretty shade of long-lasting lip color. It goes on gloss, but dries matte.
The tarte mascara was recommended to me by a GF and so far so good – but I kinda miss my Benefit Bad Gal Lash (creature of habit!). It’s supposed to be good for your lashes, though, and I can totally get on board with that.
And then there’s the birthday gift. First of all, don’t you love companies that just give you a birthday gift? Not entice you to spend more money with a 15% off coupon (ehem), but that actually give you something for FREE? I do. And I can tell you right now that I never walk out of that store without spending money, so free or not, it works. This year the gift is two deluxe samples of Benefit best sellers – “They’re Real” Mascara and “Watts Up” Highlighter. Not really a fan of the mascara (shockingly, I know everyone raves about that stuff!), but I think it’s mostly the wand. Personally, I prefer the softer (and larger) bristle style of Bad Gal Lash to this one. Also don’t like how difficult it is to get off, because I don’t know about you, but I look like a hot mess after I put mascara on in the morning before I clean it up. Oh is that just me? Never mind then.
The highlighter is great – subtle, but perfect for “Carmindizing” your face (where my WNTW fans at!?). A little on the brow bone, cheek bone and inner corners of the eyes and you’re good to go. Definitely recommend, and might buy a full size when I run out.
So what are your latest beauty buys? Anything I’ve gotta try?
